Stony Brook University

There are many reasons why I believe I made a great choice when I transfered to Stony Brook University. I had originally began my education at Pace University and found that socially and financially, that was not the place for me. I have been attending Stony Brook University for about 2 months now and I can honestly say that my life has changed.

Firstly, this school is affordable. The tuition is about $2,500 a semester for in-state residents. If you decide to dorm, the average cost of that would be about $3,000. Then, you have to add on your meal plan which you can choose from about 4
different prices. the average amount is about $1,500. This is great because it is very important for me to be able to make good financial decisions and that I can pay for my college education. They provide great financial aid, even when I was late
applying to the college. It was past the due date and they still gave me a great financial aid package. This means a lot to me and shows me that the university found me to be an intelligent, unique person who believed that I would be a great asset to
their university.

People enjoy interacting with others. The last school I attended wasn’t very social. However, this one has so many different clubs that its hard to decide which ones you want to join! But you can look online and I’m sure you’ll find any club you can
think of. I remember speaking with some girls during the first few days of the semester and they said they were going to start a pole-dancing club! That’s another great thing about Stony Brook: you can start you own official club. It’s a bit of a
process, but it’s worth it if you are really passionate about that hobby.

One of the things I knew I was going to miss about Pace University was that the school was right in Manhattan and I absolutely love Manhattan. I knew I was really going to miss it. Then when I arrived at Stony Brook, I saw that the Long Island
Railroad (LIRR) was literally right on campus! So I can take the train right to NYC for a weekend in Manhattan. My fiance also lives in NYC so I can easily travel to him. So if you like the city but can’t afford to actually attend a college in the
city, this college might be a good choice for you.

There are always people around to help you. At Pace, it was hard for me to know where to go for help. At Stony Brook, they have Stony Brook staff everywhere so you can easily access the help you need. Plus, they have actual state troopers for their
university police. They will escort you home if you had to stay late studying in the library or they will even give you a ride home. If you need to jump your car, they will come and jump it for you.

This is a great school, I recommend it to those of you who wants a really good education for a good price.
