Wii SportsItem: Wii Sports
I have had my Nintendo Wii for some time now and had almost forgotten about the game that came with the game system; Wii Sports. However, a couple of weekends ago, it was raining a bit and my daughter was complaining about being bored. She’s only 5 but I figured she might be old enough to play Wii Sports with me. Turns out, not only was I right about that, she was able to beat me at it. There are a couple of reasons why I do like this game. First, the controls are relatively simple to figure out. For the most part, you move the controller in a certain way to play tennis, bowling, boxing, baseball or golf. Some games might require you to push or hold down a button too, but it is rarely anything overly complicated. Like I said, my 5-year-old was able to figure it out. The other thing I like about this game is, unlike a lot of video games, you actually get exercise while playing this. For example, Sunday night my daughter and I were playing the game and she wanted to do the boxing. I went up against her in a total of five matches (she won four) and, by the time we were done, we were both out of breath and sweaty. I even felt it the next day. The same thing happened to my wife. She was playing tennis against my daughter (who insisted they play several matches). The next day, she had a sore arm. I put on a bit of weight over the past couple of months and have noticed, since playing this with my daughter, I have been dropping some of it. I think, the first week we played this (about four days of it total) I dropped something like 2 pounds. Since starting, I have lost about 5 pounds. I think this is great personally. I can’t afford to join a gym and don’t have the self control to diet so the fact I can have some fun, spend some time with my daughter and, at the same time, get a bit healthier is a plus. After re-discovering Wii Sports, I think I am going to look closer at the Wii Sports resort. It’s a bit pricey. But, its still cheaper than a gym. Rating: 5
