I had recently flied on Air Asia for one of my holidays in Bangkok for a change. I was used to flying on Swiss Air which the plane would make a transit at Bangkok before heading off to Zurich. It just happened that during that time, they were having that fare promotion again. The promotional price was quite ridiculous, it was only around S$30 for one way trip to Bangkok and that was even cheaper than taking a cab in Singapore! Being first time on a budget air, I could not help taking mental notes of how the flight experience would be.
Though it did not actually bother me much, it did surprise me that the passengers were free to choose their own seats as the seats were allocated on a first come first served basis. This was something different from the conventional airline and it kind of made the place rowdy as everyone was moving around to get the seats that they want. After some fierce competition, I finally got a window seat for myself. The journey was reasonable as the seats were as comfortable or rather as uncomfortable as other typical economical class seats that I had experienced in. There were no in flight entertainment though and I would not expect much of it anyway since it was a short flight.
Nothing interesting thing happened during the journey until the flight attendants came pushing out trolley to ask if we would like to purchase some snacks. It was until then that I reckoned that the airline did not provide any complimentary food. I would think that was a good idea since in doing away with the food, they lowered the price airfare to make the flight affordable.
In conclusion, it was a good journey. Though I was on board of a budget air flight, the service that I had experienced was no way inferior to the other airlines. The flight crew attended to me with professionalism and most importantly they rendered their services with smiles on their faces.
