Clinique Super City Block 40 SPF face sunscreenItem: Clinique Super City Block 40 SPF
Summer is always here, and so is my quest for an ungreasy face sunscreen that will protect with a high enough SPF, but will not feel heavy on my face, and will also allow makeup to go on over top without streaking or coming off. Quite a tall order, and I had yet to find a product that does all of these things, for a decent price, but I think I may have finally found my perfect facial sunscreen. I actually received Clinique Super City Block as a gift for my birthday, because my mom was unable to find the sunscreen that I had originally asked for. I read the packaging, and it said that the cream is an ‘oil-free daily face protector’ that is good for sensitive skin and, as with all Clinique products, is fragrance free. I have always liked the brand’s skincare products, so I was happy to try it. As soon as the weather became such that I began to use sunscreen every day, not just for outdoor activities, I tried it. It came out of the tube as a thin lotion, so I was a bit skeptical; I was sort of expecting a gel, because lotions usually don’t go on your skin as light as gels do. So I applied, and it does, truly, feel better going on than any other sunscreen I have ever tried. It feels much more like a light moisturizer than a sunscreen. So, it is so light and easy to blend once it was on my skin, that I only needed to use a small amount to do my entire face. I waited for a few minutes for it to fully blend in to my skin, and then I applied face powder-this is the part that I detest about most facial sunscreens-powder goes on streaky, and ends up looking ridiculous. Well, amazingly, it was as if I was applying the powder to a completely bare, newly-cleansed face. I was impressed. As well, Super City Block does not just go on grease-free, but it feels like absolutely nothing on my skin, as if I applied just a light moisturizer. Three hours later, as I took a look in the mirror, I saw no difference in my face from that morning-there was no streaking or stickiness. My powder, surprisingly, did not need to be re-applied, and I usually re-apply powder on warm days at least a couple of times during the day. I had even sweated a bit while walking up some stairs, and there was no issue with my face. At $25 for a 40 ml tube, it is a bit more pricy than drugstore brands, although I believe in the States it is $17. However, the formula is so light that you only need to use a small amount per use. As well, it is really, truly oil-free, it protects skin from the sun, and it is great under make-up, so I am more than willing to pay this amount for the best sunscreen I have ever tried. Rating: 10
