Kaiser Cheifs -Employment AlbumItem: Kaiser Cheifs -Employment Album
This is a great first album from this new pop punk band. More on the pop side than punk but still there. The lead singer embodies that sort of upper middle class dissolute rakish character and it works well. They’re certainly not the most intellectual band around but I love it. The classic singles ‘Every day I love you less and less’ and the Clash sound alike ‘I predict a riot’ make up the first two songs and from there the album goes down hill. No it’s not an album where every song is great but they are all reasonable. The only other song of real note is ‘Modern way’ which sounds a bit like something by Pulp, still all right for a first attempt. This is well worth buying if you like that British sound. I’m British so I suppose it helps. Rating: 8
