Staples Mail Mate Shredder

Item: Staples Mail Mate Shredder

I received the Staples Mail Mate Shredder as a gift a long while back ago. I really needed a shredder, so I was quite happy to get it. Before I got it, I was looking for a nice inexpensive one. I was only looking for the taller, kind of trash can tall ones. Basically, I did not even consider the Staples Mail Mate Shedder when I was researching a new one.

The Staples Mail Mate Shredder is a small tabletop size shredder, but do not judge it by its size. It is a powerhouse for its size. It is a powerhouse for even a bigger size. It is kind of made/advertised as a junk mail shredder and for that purpose it is amazing. You can literally put in a whole piece of unopened mail. Yes, unopened.

I will have to say that I have been quite impressed with this little thing. I have had a few other shredders before and they often bog down with just a few papers, I would never even consider trying to put in a whole envelop full of mail in one of those. But this little shredder laughs at all the bigger weaker shredders.

It can shred documents with staple or paperclips. Just in case you missed it, it CAN shred staples and paper clips. No need to spend all the time removing them. It can also shred CD’s and credit cards.

I mentioned that it shreds whole pieces of mail, and it does and it does not bog down when it does. It shreds it up and doesn’t seem to faze it. Even if you have those credit card offers with those fake plastic cards in them, it will still shred it without blinking an eye.

It has an auto safety shutdown and an auto reverse feature, in case you end up with a jam. Though, I have only had two jams the whole time I have had it. It also shreds into the criss cross confetti pieces, so your papers are safe. It says that it has 20 sheets at a time power. I don’t often count, but I definitely can’t dispute that.

If you are someone who almost alway shreds full sheets of paper, this might not be for you. The only reason I say this is because the opening is not made for a full size sheet of paper. You have to fold all full size sheets of paper in half, to have them fit. You will still get perfect shredding, but if all you do is full size sheets you might get tired of folding them.

The little pull out bin, is well little. I would prefer it to be a lot bigger, but I have used a lot of other shredders with big trash bins and small power. So lots of power and a small bin is better. I just have to make sure I dump it a bit more often.

Even though at the beginning, in my search, I would not have considered the Staples Mail Mate, I am very glad that I ended up with it. I think it is much better than anything I would have ended up buying. Its power is beyond its size and I can’t complain.
