StrokersItem: Strokers
I never knew about Strokers till an old high school friend of mine took me there to play pool. Heck, I had never played pool before that moment either. I have to say I was quite impressed with this establishment. It really has a name to match wht they are all about if you ask me…and that is pool!
Strokers is very spacious and has tons of pool tables, maybe about 20-25. They have a little restaurant area in another corner, really well made up, very comfortable seating, nice menu with good food but I have to admit a bit pricey. But you can’t bring any food and drink from outside of their establishment with you though. They have cushions that run along the wall near the pool tables and conveniently placed pools with little “tables rests” on them where you can put your drinks as you play (food and drink are not allowed on the pool tables) The cushions are very comfortable. They aren’t a club so there is no dancing area but they provide loud music and very tasteful music with a wide range. From reggae to dancehall to chutney to R&B and Hip Hop…you name it! They play a nice variety of Old School music as well (mainly reggae and dancehall old school) and well of some of the newer more popular songs around. Their bar area is really well made up and nicely arranged on the inside with all the different types of alcoholic beverages on display. The service can get a little held up at times but this place is always busy on Saturday evenings so that is to be expected. They charge only $20 dollars an hour to play the board which is pretty good since it is probably the cheapest price you’d find around. There are other places which charge $20 dollars but Strokers is still top of my list. The environment is nice. They also provide the chalk for the pool cue which some other establishments don’t and that is one of the good things about them as well. Their drinks though, are pretty pricey…but I have to commend them for having a camera monitoring their stairway which leads to their establishment. Overall, I must say Strokers is my favourite place to go when I want to play pool. They never charge an entry fee either which makes it even better as many places charge an entry fee on Saturdays in particular (even if they don’t at any other day) Very nice establishment and I’d recommend it or even take my friends there without a second thought on if they’d find it nice or not.
