Holiday Inn LondonItem: Holiday Inn Express
The Holiday Inn in London is a classy place to stay. It is a non smoking property which, in my opinion, makes it a step above any smoking property. It has three floors with sixty plus rooms. The outside of the hotel is basically red brick with detailing done in tan as a border to the roof line. Also at the center of the building there is a triangular area where the Holiday Inn Express name is and that is also in tan. Below the Holiday Inn words is a large starburst window. Below all the windows was a white area which gave the hotel a little extra bling. The hotel is very attractive. In the front of the hotel is a rather large carport. The carport has a domed top with for double corner posts. You could possibly drive at least two vehicles under the carport. The majority of the carport is done in tan with just the very base of it in the red brick color. The landscaping was somewhat minimal, with just a few small globe evergreen shrubs and ornamental crab trees. The parking lot was large and kept very clean and in good shape. It extended practically all the way around the building.
Our room was really lovely. The walls and the ceiling were tan with the carpeting being a figured brown. The large windows had sheer curtains over them with striped pleated drapes of them. There was an air conditioner which was very quiet, so quiet in fact that you could hardly hear it run. There were two queen beds in the room. The headboards had a whitewashed finish with a metal decorative piece attached to mid top point of it. The beds were really comfortable yet firm and supportive. The pillows were fluffy and thick, a real pleasure to sleep on. There was a white coverlet with an addition cranberry blanket on the bed. The bed had a bedskirt on it in gold fabric. There was a nightstand between the beds which also had the whitewashed finish. There was an alarm clock, telephone and very decorative lamp on the nightstand. Over each of the bed was a frame and matted modern print not my style. In the corner of the room was a stuffed chair with a decorative floor lamp behind it. On the other side of the room was an armoire with a television in it and three drawers below the television. In the same armoire in a separate area was a small refrigerator and a microwave. Even the microwave and frig were white. On the left side of the armoire was a work table with a television on it and a metal table lamp with a white lampshade. There was a green rolling chair for the table. On the other side of the armoire was a long chest of drawers, also whitewashed with a large mirror over the top of it. The bathroom was quite large and very clean. The towels were soft and fluffy. There was plenty of hot water and they supplied us with plenty of amenities. We spent quite a bit of time down by the pool. The area was a bit small, yet large enough for a few people to splash around and enjoy themselves. There were several windows in the pool area which made it nice and light. The walls were a combination of pale gold and light tan. There was mottled tan/grey tile around the pool area and a dark grey border around the pool. The pool area smelled like chlorine it made my eyes water. The breakfast area was very pretty. The cabinets were very blond in color. The walls were a grey and white figured wallpaper. There were quite a few small circular tables with chairs. The food was always fresh and there was lots of fresh coffee. The area was kept very clean and there was room for quite a few people. Rating: 8
