The media itself (the filter replacements) are high quality. They last a long time, though it’s recommended to change them at a minimum of twice per year. They do their job well, helping to keep the house cool or warm, whichever the case may be. It’s amazing to me how much dirt and yuck it collects while doing its job, something that is extremely evident when it comes time to replace the filter.

The filter replacement is easy to remove. The one thing you need to be careful of is where you put it, though. We’ve made the mistake of just lying it down while we put in the new one. That’s a no-no, unless you like picking up the dust that ends up on the carpet or wherever you’ve placed it. It’s definitely advisable to put the dirty filter right into the box that the new one has come in, or else immediately take it outside and toss it in the garbage.

The most difficult part of these units is putting the new filter on. It takes practice and patience, but that’s the fault of the actual filter system itself, and not the replacement media.

These filter replacements are sturdy and heavy duty. I’ve never had one tear or come apart in any fashion. I’d never use a substitute; they are the best. Though they can be expensive, if you shop around the internet, you can find some good deals on them.

My rating would be a 10, but it’s the difficulty in putting in the filters that bring it down a couple of notches.
