WorldView Pension PlazaItem: WorldView Pension Plaza
In the heart of Dumaguete City is the WorldView Pension Plaza, an unassuming low-budget hotel that provides maximum comfort for a fraction of the price that most hotels of the same caliber offer. I have had the privilege of discovering WorldView when I failed to book a room with my favorite hotel in Dumaguete when I was traveling for business. The hotel that I usually stayed in was fully booked that time so I had to find another alternative. Good thing the pedicab or trycycle driver was kind enough to bring me to WorldView at around two in the morning (as my oat arrived at one o’clock). The hotel was actually just a three-minute ride from the pier, as it was located in the middle of the downtown area near the famous Silliman University campus.
The security guard at WorldView was very alert even during that “unholy” hour. He helped me with the bags and took me upstairs to the reception desk. The man at the counter was even more alert than the guard. He was very friendly and courteous and offered me a suite room (because he said it was the only available accomodation that time). I was about to protest when he told me that I am only to pay Php1,200 (USD25) per night, and that is with free continental breakfast already. So I booked for three nights. The continental breakfast was really nothing special—just your choice of rice or bread, corned beef or luncheon meat, coffee or juice, and egg on the side. But they have a restaurant which offers a variety of American, Flipino, and Italian food at reasonable prices, although I would recommend eating out. What I like most about the hotel is its cleanliness. They cleaned the room and the toilet and changed the sheets every day. I also get to enjoy cable TV and the personal ref which I stocked with all kinds of foodstuffs for my midnight snacks. I also enjoyed a warm bath every night. It was sort of my second home and I was almost tempted to extend my stay for a few days more. The hotel’s proximity to the major establishments in the city like banks, restuarants, and department stores make it my number one choice in Dumaguete. I will be staying in WorldView next time I visit Dumaguete. Rating: 8
