The Manor Hotel, Baguio CityItem: The Manor Hotel
The Manor Hotel in Baguio City is said to be one of the better hotels in this city of pines. It is built inside the Camp John Hay, a former USA summer base in the Philippines. Beside this is the golf course frequently visited by golf aficionados. It feels like I am outside the Philippines when I am in the area.
The first time I was here, I was not able to see the beauty because I was so busy with work and there is no time to see the beauty of its surroundings. it is in the second visit that I was able to feel the serenity of the place. There is only one restaurant inside it and breakfast is not inclusive to the rate per day. The food in the only restaurant is passable and no particular food in the menu caught my attention. There are a handful of restaurants located in the commissary not far from this hotel that serve better dishes. Some of the suites of this hotel have balconies and if in case guests happen to have their chats there, the noise can be heard in the other units. Since The Manor does not have air conditioners installed, the windows are mostly open to let the cool air ventilate the rooms. The noise of neighboring guests is deafening and a nuisance especially in the dead of the night. The design of this hotel did not consider inconsiderate guests and the staff are not well trained to handle this problem. I do not feel welcome when I need to complain the noise in a pricey hotel. Had it not for that problem, this hotel is passable in my taste. It has all the amenities minus the air con. Another thing, you need to have a car or even a rented one if you intend to book into this hotel. The taxis that pass it is too few and far between because of the exclusivity and location of The Manor. Rating: 7
