Well, it is known all over the net to never use the same username and password for all the websites you visit but sometimes I end up in a dilemma of making up passwords. I mean really, there are so many possible variations but yet it is that hard to come up with a series of numbers, letters and symbols to make a simple password? Well, no it ain’t that hard but the PC Tools Password Utilities software saves me time and has a few useful features included in this program as well.
I actually found PC Tools Password Utilities when I did a Google search one day on password randomizing software. PC Tools Password Utilities is a free downloadable program which can even be used offline after you have downloaded it. The main point of me having PC Tools Password Utilities on my computer is to generate random passwords in the blink of an eye when I join a new site and this is what the first tab of the PC Tools Password Utilities incorporates…generating highly secure and hard to crack passwords. Under the Password generator tab you have the choice of choosing the length of your password which can range anywhere from 4 to 64 characters long, if you would like to use letter, numbers, upper and lower case letters, punctuation or symbols and it also gives you the option to choose if you don’t want any of the above listed twice in a single password. You can also create anywhere from 1 to 100 passwords at once and then simply copy it to your clipboard from the program if you so desire. The next tab in the PC Tools Password Utilities program is a Password Checker tool. This allows you to type in any password you or the program itself has generated to check the strength of it. The strengths range from weak to medium to strong as you type in your password. They do note though that the password strength is theoretical and may not guarantee the security of your password. The last tab in the PC Tools Password Utilities program is called Password Revealer. It only works with Internet Explorer (it should be programed to work with Firefox as well, in my opinion) The password revealer option, to my knowledge only works on your own computer. All you need to do is go to the page in Internet Explorer where the password has been previously typed in or auto saved, highlight the box and click on “Reveal Password” in the PC Tools Password Utilities program to see the password you may have forgotten. Overall, it is a nice program. Not sure if I like the last feature too much to be quite honest but I love to use PC Tools Password Utilities to generate passwords in a split second.
