Happy FeetItem: Happy Feet
Cut to a scene of a baby penguin being born. Named with the adoring name of Mumble. Waddling around, trying out his new feet. Cut to another scene, the same penguin, a little bit more grown up. Forbidden to dance around others, he finds a place alone and unseen by other eyes, in which to make his sweet feet-music.
This is quite far into the movie, but still, the best part of it, and when things really seem to pick up. Circumstances take this outcast penguin on a rollicking joyous adventure where he must save the fish that everybody eats from being devoured by the humans. Fraught with terribly lovable characters, Mumble is only the most obvious one. Some others noted are his companions, Gloria, his erstwhile love affair, and his parents, all of whom occasionally break out into song. But not poor Mumble; he can’t sing, but he can dance with the best of them. And he quickly captures the hearts of children and adults alike. I know he captured mine. I love this movie if for no other reason then that Mumble is such a lovable character. Dialogue lends itself to the action, creating the perfect counterpoint to the character interaction, which is pretty much what this movie is all about. A good film for children and parents alike, this movie will warm your heart and get you to make some sweet music of your own, whatever your style. Highly recommended. A ten on a scale of one to ten.
