My wife and I just bought a Frigidaire Model FRT21IL6JM. This model typically retails at Lowes at $658.00 but we knew the store manager and so we got it for $590.00. As anyone knows has browsed refrigerator prices recently knows, this is probably in the bottomn twenty percent of prices. It was a challenge to find an affordable new refrigerator, but our old one totally broke down, so we had no choice in the matter.

This model is quite roomy, at 20.6 cubic feet. The freezer is on the top and has one shelf. It is much larger than we are used to. The refrigerator part has numerous plastic shelves - three fresh food shelves and three door shelves.

This is not a stainless steel model, but it is painted to look like one. The sides are black. The model is 68 1/4 inches high, 31 3/4 inches deep, and 29 5/8 inches wide. These measurements do not include the door handle.

The model is energy star compliant and has an ice maker in the freezer (not in the door). Overall, we are quite pleased with our purchase. It is certainly not anything close to top of the line, but we could not afford anything more expensive. Most of the models being offered include bottom freezers or french doors or stainless steel, or all of the above. We simply wanted a new reliable refrigerator without all the bells and whistles.

One of my only complaints thus far is that the plastic shelves, especially the door shelves, seem cheap. I am concerned they will just fall off, because they essentially hang off the door. However, we have had no problem with them so far, and they seem to handle the weight of milk, juice and two-liter drinks just fine.
