Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Item: Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Location:
by Jermaine McKenzie

Sleepy Hollow, directed by Tim Burton is rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America for graphic horror violence and gore, and for a scene of sexuality. The original release date for this movie was November 19, 1999 for United States audiences. This movie falls in the genre of Fantasy/Horror/Mystery/Thriller and stars Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane, Christina Ricci as Katrina Van Tassel, Miranda Richardson as Lady Van Tassel / Crone, Michael Gambon as Baltus Van Brunt, Casper Van Dien as Brom Van Brunt, Jeffrey Griffiths as Reverend Philipse, Ian McDiarmid as Doctor Lancaster, Michael Gough as Notary hardenbrook and Christopher Walken as Hessian Horseman.

Crane is sent to investigate the killings of three individuals who were decapitated by the legend come to life known as the Headless Horsemen. How is that for a plot, nothing too technical, nothing overly fansy, just a plain old investigation of people who were killed via unconventional methods.

This is yet another one of my favorite movies directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, the combination of these two figures have spawned so many great films and even today their work is unbelievably wonderful.

I can honestly say that Johhny seems to favor these kind of movies as does Tim as he mostly does directing in the same field many times over. The semi dark feel to their movies is what initially drew me to their work in the first place. Tim is a very good director.

The investigation into the matter in which Ichabod was sent gets to be more than he could bear as he finds out first hand that the myth is real when he encounters the legendary Headless Horseman for himself. A magnificent movie and well worth the time spent to watch. Happy viewing!
