There is a product sold on Jewelry Television, ACN tv, that allows the least likely jewelry maker to really make beautiful jewelry for themselves. I am speaking of snap tights. Snap tights are castings, ready made for a particular sized gem, that one must simply do this: you put the gem on a hard, flat surface. You put the snap tight casting over the gem, you push. That’s it. You push it until you hear and/or feel a slight snap in. The gem will stay inside this casting! You may buy it is silver or gold.
These are wonderful, and allow for making beautiful jewelry for yourself or for gifts. They come in varied sizes, and are for earrings, pendants, and rings! I always use just a little fingernail glue on the prongs when I do this, just in case……because I use very nice gems. But, gems are not expensive to buy, by themselves, if you are careful about how you buy them. You can guy the gem, a particular size, of course, and then, buy the snap tight to match that size with no problem on ACN tv! The jewelry show is the ONLY place I know that offers these wonderful snap tight castings. Even my grandchildren as young as 4 yrs old can do this!
What you end up with, is a beautiful piece of jewelry that is one of a kind, made by YOU, and certainly, more appreciated by you. You made it yourself! The silver castings cost less than the 10kt or 14kt gold castings of course. Your choice of castings should match the quality and cost of the gem you use.
