I must admit that “Duplex” is definitely one of my Ben Stiller’s favourite movies, even though it was a cinema flop. I believe that Ben Stiller and the actress, Drew Barrymore make a great on screen couple and you simply cannot watch this movie and end up not having a smile on your face.
“Duplex” is about a couple that ends up buying a nice Duplex in New York. Little did they realise that this new home is going to cause them a lot of headaches, thanks to an old lady who lives in a small apartment upstairs. The actress, Eileen Essell who interpret the old lady in this movie gave a tremendous contribution towards this movie. Watch out for some hilarious scenes which include her and Ben Stiller. They provide great comic moments. I enjoyed a particular scene were Stiller had to give the kiss of life to the old lady! The Razzie Awards felt that they had to nominate Drew Barrymore for the worst actress of the year, thankful she didn’t win it. I feel that the Razzie were unfair with Barrymore, because, even though in certain moments she was over the top, in reality she gave a lot to this movie. “Duplex” is the movie you must watch if you enjoy Ben Stiller’s comedy movies.
