The Sopranos is a “compelling” TV Show. I think compelling is the best word. Even though some scenes are controversial or you see the evil side of many of the main characters, for some reason the show compels you to keep watching. HBO has less strict regulations than cable TV. Because of that, they can show more adult scenes. I was surprised when I first saw some of the stuff on the show, mainly because I am use to watching cable tv. The characters are well developed and both their good and bad sides are shown. This show may be too violent or drama filled for some people. The show is very much a drama, with the occasional humor. The life of a mobster, at least depicted in this show, is not an easy one. The main character goes through stress of being a mobster and being a husband and father.

I would not reccomend this show to children, 18+ at the least. There is a lot of cussing, probably more than needed. There is also a lot of scenes where women are mistreated. I think some things in the show were more to get ratings than for the story. There are some outrageous scenes you would never think would be on a TV show.

However, if you can put the above stuff beside, the show can be quite enjoyable. However, you will watch mainly because the story is so compelling, not so much enjoyable, though some may find it that way.

If you watch a few episodes (three or four), that should tell you if you would like the series. If you don’t, than it is probally not for you. If you can get over the shock of some scenes, you may find this show very compelling.
