PREMARIN and Hormonal Replacement Therapy

Item: Medicine - Premarin and Hormonal Replacement Therapy : Safe or not?
Location:
by nightshadow

The most well known form of Hormone Replacement Therapy comes in a tiny pill form of Premarin. This particular drug is used to take away many of the symptoms of menopause for women between the ages of 40 and 55. My mother was plagued with hot flashes, weight gain, bone loss, insomnia, and irritation that disrupted her days. She was placed on Premarin and it worked well for her. She was lucky, her menopause symptoms subsided in a couple of years and was able to go off the drug. However, in recent years Premarin as a form of hormonal replacement therapy has been very controversial in treating menopause.
Premarin and other similar Hormone Replacement Therapy treatments increase a woman’s chance of getting breast, colon, and ovarian cancer as well as additional health risks. Unfortunately in a world where medical technology is in it’s prime it is still failing to find treatments for women’s disorders that are safe and still efficient in treating the problems. Today menopausal women much decide between 10 years of hot flashes, irritation, and insomnia or take Premarin which could cause a healthy woman to get breast cancer.
