Red Heart’s line of acrylic yarn is affordable and easy to use. I like the worsted-weight selections the best because this type of yarn works well for the overwhelming majority of my knitting projects. Even though I live in a small town and, therefore, must find all of my yarn at Wal-Mart (there’s no other store in the area that offers this sort of thing), I never have any trouble finding a good color for my projects.

Red Heart makes everything from basic primary colors to multi-colored skeins. There is even a camouflage-themed skein, which is great for those of us who don’t have the time or patience to frequently switch colors while knitting. The same applies to the other multi-colored skeins in Red Heart’s lineup. You can find color schemes that are perfect for just about any project (I’m partial to the Blueberry Pie skeins, myself).

There is also a line of “no dye lot” yarn from the company. I like not having to worry about matching the dye lot codes when I’m about to start a new project.

But there are still plenty of Red Heart skeins with dye lot codes. As long as I make sure that all of the yarn in my project comes from the same lot, I don’t have any problems with uneven fading or variations in the colors and tints. Overall, Red Heart does a good job with the dying process.

Another nice thing about the acrylic yarn is the fact that I don’t have to do anything special to clean the finished project when it gets dirty. All I do is throw the knitting into the washer and lay it flat to air dry when the cycle finishes.

I don’t like paying several dollars a skein for yarn that’s going to end up on the floor (cat blankets). That’s why I invest two dollars and change in each skein of Red Heart yarn for these types of projects. I know that I’m getting a high-quality yarn without paying too much.
