Norweigen Cruise LineItem: Norweigen Cruise Line- Free Style Dress, NOT!
My young friends, just returned from their honeymoon. They were given a cruise to Mexico, by the bride’s parents. It all seemed to be a wonderful idea, and the best part was that it was advertised as a ‘free style dress’ cruise, meaning that the bride wouldn’t need to fret about what to wear to fancy occasions of the ship! The cruise was advertised as one where jeans and nice blouses and shirts were expected to be worn to lessen the cost of the cruise for them. The new bride and groom were delighted with this set up. The cruise went all down the coast of Mexico, and was for ten days. This all sounded terrific. The main stop was to be in Alcopulco. For some reason, the ship decided not to stop there at all! This was very upsetting to our bride and groom. Next, came the night of a mystery game, a sort of ‘who done it’ game. Guests were told to dress free style, but that shorts and tank tops would not be appropriate. Both bride and groom put on their best jeans and best blouse and shirt, for the night’s game. I know these two very well, and they look just fine in these type clothes. Before the mystery game, was dinner. The two went to eat at the restaurant, as directed. They were denied food or even water, as the ship’s man told them they were not dressed well enough. (Wait a minute, this is a free style dress restaurant, right?). So, they had no dinner, not even water was allowed for them! After the game, the couple went to the Casino to play slot machines. This is a very nice couple, who do not make trouble for people, I must insert, here. As they were playing the slot machines, a man and a woman came up to them, and started harrassing them in the most of foul language, louder and louder, about them smoking. The bride looked at the woman, who was getting closer and closer to her, in a threatening manner, and the bride said, “Get over it. This is the Casino, we are allowed to smoke in here”. The bride continued to play the slot machine she was playing. She realized the man and the woman had continued to get closer and closer to them, as they got louder and louder, calling them really, really horrible, swearing words. Finally, another man, who was smoking next to the bride and groom, was totally accosted by the foul mouthed man, as the horrible man started to swing a blow at the other man! The other man hit him back, and the foul mouthed man just stopped. Security did not come to the aide of our bride and groom, as the woman became closer and closer to our bride, who was just trying to have a nice time! Again, I must tell you, this is an educated, nice young lady who would never hurt anyone…..almost. I have to add ‘almost’ as the woman got right up into our bride’s face, calling her swear words and was apparently ready to strike her! Our bride is a size 5, and not a big bully, by anyone’s measure! Security still did not respond when called. The horrible woman with the filthy mouth, began to swing a blow at our bride! Well, that was it! Our bride just didn’t want to get beaten up by this foul mouthed, horrid person. She just made a fist and knocked her flat! THEN, security showed up, to escort our bride back to her room. Now, I really do not see the fairness of this, at all. I have been on Norweigen Cruises, but, they were very fancy, not at all like the free style dress type. I am writing this review to warn anyone who is thinking of taking a free style dress cruise to Mexico for ten days, that they might get to less places than they are signed up for………that free style dress is NOT always free style dress, even when what is NOT appropriate is made clearly known, and that security is NOT all it is supposed to be. The bride and groom were horrified to find that their video camera had been stolen out of their room, as well. There went all the honeymoon pictures, as well as the camera……..a very expensive gift they had received from their wedding! This review is to let you be aware of actual happenings on this particular cruise. You might want to think more than once, if you are considering a ‘free style dress’ cruise with Norweigen Cruise Lines. I know I would never take one, NOW! Beware! Rating: 1
