Smart TelecomItem: Smart Telecom
I was a loyal subscriber for two years. Actually, I was forced to be a subscriber because of my contract with them. I had applied for a cell phone line with Smart because my parents were subscribers and I wanted to avail of the cheap text messaging service as well as the low call rates they offer for Smart to Smart calls. I don’t really know why I hate Smart, it’s not because they have bad customer service; in fact they offer great service and are always coming out with promos. Unfortunately, most of the promos are for pre-paid line services and not for post paid lines. Maybe I don’t like them because they are offering too many promos that their networks have become congested. Once they offered free text messaging all day long for 10 pesos a day. Messages will arrive hours later, calls are unsuccessful due to busy networks and customer service will make you wait for 5 minutes. I believe it’s the people’s instinct to take advantage of something free and abusing it that made that promo so successful but utterly useless for me. I’m glad that promo is over and I got back to 5 minute late messages. Once I heard my friend say that Smart is for the lower class who can’t really afford high end cell phone services. I got insulted but just kept my mouth closed. But in truth, that’s really true. Most of the subscribers I know are low end citizens. Not that I’m being prejudiced, it’s just that I don’t want to be tagged as someone who abuses the free text messaging. Last month, my 2 year contract with them expired and I didn’t continue using their services. There was a time when most of my friends were with Smart Telecom; but more and more switched to another cell phone provider so I ended up paying more and more every month. I’m not saying that Smart is not a good cell phone provider; but if you ask me the other big network in the Philippines is much much better. Rating: 5
