Seroquel (medication)Item: Seroquel (medication)
Seroquel is a medication that can be used as a seditive in lower doses. In lower doses it is also more commonly being prescribed by doctors as a sleep aide for individuals who battle falling asleep at night. My own physician recently told me to try taking a Seroquel and see if it helped me to fall asleep, since I have been having difficulty with sleep for the past several years now. I did try the medication last night and I can see why it is used to aide in sleep depravation. It relaxes the mind and body in a very slow manner and creates a very slowly increasing level of drowsiness. It certainly did help me to fall asleep and I also found that once asleep, it helped me to stay asleep throughout the duration of the night. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it did not have residual side effects of making me drowsy in the morning either. My usual complaint with sleep aides is that I feel like I drag in the mornings. I hate that feeling becuase I need to get up and function and bang out tasks in the morning. If I am feeling sluggish, that usually fails to happen. Seroquel worked very well for me. I always tend to be cautious with medications and I try not to take any sort of sleeping aide on a regular basis becuase I do not wish to build up any kind of tolerance or dependency. I must say that I was impressed with this medication and that anyone who may not be experiencing great results using a medication like Ambien or Temazepam may want to consult with their doctor and see if Seroquel would be a viable solution for them. It is a newer resource that is out there and while each person responds to medications differently, for people who seriously battle sleep, they may want to consider looking into this prescription medication as an option or alternative. Great job to the makers of Seroquel! Rating: 8
