Jeep Grand Cherokee CarItem: Jeep Grand Cherokee Car
Looking for a used car? Well, if you are stay away from the Jeep Grand Cherokeend Cherokee. I have had it for only 4 months and I have spent a lot of money to fix it. When I say a lot you have to trust me, get ready to empty your pocket. I bought the Jeep Grand Cherokee due to the amazing reviews I read online. The reviews were awesome when compared to other cars such as an Explorer or a Navigator. I know what you guys are probably thinking, why don’t I just buy an Asian car such as a Honda Pilot or a Toyota Highlander. The reason is straight and clear and its safety. I do not believe those cars meet the safety standards. Well anyways, lets get back to the Grand Cherokee. The model I purchased as a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I was overly impress with the car when test driving it seeing the massive amount of options offered by the car. One which caught my attention greatly was the multiple 4 wheel drive options. Even though I haven’t used it since purchasing the car, I thought it just looked cool. The seats are comfortable which makes you feel as if it is a right car for you. The cosmetics were in very good condition. It looked as if it was a new car inside and out the owner kept it clean and smelling great. I should have known that these were tricks to get me to purchase the car. When driving the car it felt smooth like the ride I always wanted. So as soon as I was done test driving it I knew that it was a car for me. A month after purchasing the car I was still happy with its performance. The acceleration was great considering how it was a heavy duty car running on only 6 cylinders. Maybe it was because it was 4.0 liters that made it have an amazing acceleration. Something I notice was that this car was a gas guzzler. I would get around 14 miles per gallon on the highway and 12 in the city. I guess this was alright for me at the moment cause I did not really think about gas. Well guess what, over time it builds up a lot. Anyways, a month after purchasing the car on an early sunny morning the car failed to start. I switched the car to neutral, and tried to start the car. It ignited but failed to stay on. I stepped on the gas while igniting the car. It allowed the car to turn on but I had to hold the car there for a minute or two. So the engine was revving. After about a minute when I let the gas go the engine decided to stay in idling mode. That was a relief. Anyways, after that I took it to the mechanic I found out that it was the battery. The battery took a lot of work to take off due to the rusted nail and the unnecessary brackets the held the battery in place. So I spend around 120 bucks on that but it was only the start. The car ran fine until a month later. It was a hot humid day so I pulled the windows down not wanting to waste gas for the ac. Well when it started to rain I switch the button to pull the window back up. Guess what happened at this point. I think its obvious where this is leading. The window did not come up but it decided to slip back down. Is it me or are there so many problems with this car. While fixing the window I told the mechanic to do a tune up for me. While doing the turn up he found that the housing for the pistons was firing everywhere and that caused my mileage to be low. He charged me for around 350 for everything to be fixed. It has been just a month and a half and I have spent that much. Imagine how much I will spend in the near future. I hope I bought I new car to start with so I would not have to worry about this mess.
