HTC Google Phone G1 for T MobileItem: HTC Google Phone G1 for T Mobile
This phone can easily be considered the pioneer of its day. And its day was last year roughly. T mobile still sells this phone in stores and for good reason. The recent Introduction by HTC and T mobile of the mytouch slide is an attempt to phase the G1 phone out in my opinion. The only thing lacking in the original mytouch that made the G1 still dead even in popularity was that the G1 has a very responsive and useful keyboard. All in all, I love this phone, and even when I switched carriers, I couldn’t let it go. I still use it for music and web browsing and in a way it is my version of the ipod touch. The touch screen is incredibly responsive and the added benefit of the Android SDK operating system means that users can have far more versatility than most systems out there right now. I found myself lost for hours browsing the internet looking for free apps using just the wi-fi capabilities of this phone.
Pros: Excellent and responsive touch screen and a well designed keyboard. The phone actually feels very solid in the hand. This is always a plus as no one wants to buy a 200 dollar phone that feels like it came out of a gumball machine. The Android system allows for hours of fun time wasting as you browse. The added wi-fi is a huge plus as you do need to have an internet package to enjoy this phone. Call quality is very decent. CONS: The battery life is not up to par. This is almost expected due to the amount of features and the complexity of the phone. Honestly, I bought an extended battery that works wonders. Now the phone can last for days and the battery’s available don’t even change the size of the phone. They are just more powerful I guess. Conclusion: An excellent phone with staying power. I would still choose this phone over the new releases that are hitting shelves right now. The phone is reliable and broken in as far as software issues etc. It is the Patriarch of many of the most popular phones on the market. Rating: 9
