Kroger Brand Epsom SaltsItem: Kroger Brand Epsom Salts
I am a big fan of using epsom salts. I have never used them as a laxative but I love them for sprains, bruises, and aches and pains. However I do not like Kroger brand epsom salts at all. I have used many brands that have really helped me wind down relax and feel better. I find lots of generic brands that are comparable. Kroger has lots of comparable products. Unfortunately there epsom salts are not comparable and are more headache then they are worth. I would avoid them at all costs. Spend a little more on a different brand if you have to but don’t bother with Kroger brand Epsom salts.
I have many reasons that I don’t like them. First of all the crystals are not as fine as other ones. And they are less of a stone, meaning there are more additives. First of all I do not want filler in my epsom salts. If I am going to soak my whole body in it I do not want to be soaking in any kind of filler. Secondly it makes the salts not dissolve the way that most other salts do. To get them to really dissolve you have to have extremely hot water. Here is my major problem with that. I like a hot bath but there is a point were hot is too hot. If I run the bath hot enough to fully dissolve Kroger brand epsom salts it is to hot to get in. Then I have to let the bath cool. Then i get distracted forget and when I get back to the bath it is to cold to take a decent bath in. So then I either start the whole process over or try to add hot water. Either way now i am putting too much hassle in to my relaxing soak. Another reason I do not like Kroger brand epsom salts is because they leave a film in the tub. If you do not clean the film it turns to a sludge and makes the bath harder to clean. Again the whole reason for the soak is to make me feel better. To sooth aches and pains and help get rid of bruises. The last thing I want to do after a relaxing soak is clean the bath tub. Now I bruise very easily. So much so that I often look as if i have been beaten up. It was my doctor who recommended I do a weekly soak to help minimize the bruises. Considering how vital my soaks are I can not stand a product that makes it a chore or a pain. So I do not recommend the Kroger brand epsom salts for anyone, anywhere, ever. Not until Kroger changes the formula. Rating: 1
