Yasmin birth control pillItem: Yasmin birth control pill
I am extremely grateful that my doctor finally put me on the Yasmin birth control pills. I should explain that I am actually not on them for birth control purposes. I need them to control a hormonal imbalance that has been badly troubling me for about three years. About that time I developed a fibroid tumor, and while those are benign and won’t endanger me, the severe cramps, bleeding and hormonally-induced bloating and PMS did become a health issue. Nothing worked. I was told to get more exercise, but that didn’t help. Drink more water, drink less water, change my diet — none of these worked. The only thing that remotely helped my terrible pain was natural progesterone cream. When I mentioned that to a sympathetic doctor, she said, “Ah, then I think I know what will help you,” and prescribed Yasmin. Yasmin has a higher level of progesterone and less estrogen, I was told. It didn’t work right away: it took two months before I saw a real difference, but it changed the quality of my life. The bloating and all-month-cramping is largely gone and the bleeding is somewhat controlled. Here’s a bonus, not that I really needed this but I’ve heard others on this pill rave about it: I actually went up a cup size, and am firm and in great shape — in fact at my most recent mammogram I was asked if I had implants, which I most certainly do not. I am so relieved to have finally found a birth control pill which helps my health problems. I wish they had developed Yasmin years ago. Rating: 9

I`m not sure what you want to be protected against, so you need to ask your doctor that. However, no birth control pill will protect you against pregnancy in the first month of using it. I`m sure your doctor would agree. And it did take me 2 or 3 months before Yasmin helped control my pain and bloating issues. Hope this helps, and be careful.

Goodness — I was simply a Yasmin patient, and those questions can only safely be answered by the pharmaceutical company that made it. Unfortunately I don`t know which company that is. Google Yasmin birth control pill and perhaps that can be found? Good luck - Zozo Co.

I have been on yasmin for about 2 years now. I was put on it because I have fibroids. Every month for the past 2 months I have been starting my period a day earlier. I just wanted to know if it was normal or if I should go see my ob gyn.

Hi Krissy, Well, I was put on Yasmin for fibroids too, and I have to say I never started them a day earlier. But the thing about fibroids is they make you bleed so heavily that who knows. You may want to check in with your OB GYN just to see if there`s some better option to control that. I have to admit too that I took myself off Yasmin as I was tired of the weight gain and general feeling of discomfort

i have been on the yasmin BC pill for almost a year to help serveral health issues but recently have started using it as method of Birth control. at any time during taking the pill should i use non-hormonal form of contracpetion even if i have followed all directions taking all pills correctly and on time? i no that if you miss a pill you should use non hormonal contraception for sex until i have taken seven active pills but, im a little confused about when taking the 7 placebo pills and the next week after that. am i still protected from becoming pregnant in these weeks? thanx.

The expiration date on the package says Jul. 10. Is this July 10th and assuming of this year ? Or is it July 2010? How many years are the pills usually good for once they are purchased from the pharmacy? Thank you.

Hello, I have been on Yasmin birth control for about 9 years. I`m 25 years old and originally got on birth control because of my acne and very irregular period. It has done great things for both, however I recently was diagnosed with agressive thyroid cancer. I have had absolutely no symptoms and otherwise am in extremely good health. Is there any chance the pill has any link to thyroid cancer?? They think I started developing thyroid cancer around the same time I started the pill. I`m debating if I want to stay on Yasmin or not. Any recomendations? Thanks..
