Homedics Neck and Shoulder Massager with HeatItem: Homedics Neck and Shoulder Massager with Heat
After two surgeries to correct some shoulder injuries, I had to undergo extensive physical therapy. Since I knew that my insurance would never cover unlimited therapy, I knew I had to find a way to mimic the relief techniques I learned there, at home.
One of the first purchases I made was to pick up the Homedics Neck and Shoulder Massager. This particular model was very similar to a heating device I had used there. Luckily I found it on sale for about twenty dollars at Walgreen Drugs. I have since seen it at several stores including Bed Bath and Beyond, however Walgreens still had the lowest price. The Homedics Neck and Shoulder Massager is electronic device that is sort of horse shoe shaped and fits nicely behind your neck and over the front of your shoulders. Due to the nature of my injuries, it actually fit right where I needed it. It has two speed settings as well as an additional heat setting to help relax the muscles and bring blood to the areas. It is also covered in a soft material and is plushy in places so you don’t feel as if you have a hard device around you. At first I was satisfied with this purchase, but as the months wore on it seems to have become a lot weaker and less helpful. Although it has a heat setting, when you go to use it, it seems to lessen the vibrations which already weren’t nearly powerful enough. The heat also is barely negligible; I would actually forget that I had put in on since I felt so little. Another thing that ticked me off about this massager is that I would have to take my hands and hold the thing down against my shoulders to make it vibrate better. This was a problem, as you get tired of holding it this way and wonder if it’s worth the bother of using it. In all I am really disappointed in the Homedics Neck and Shoulder Massager; it didn’t cost a fortune, but it really didn’t work very well after only using it for a short while. I am quite sure it will only continue to lessen in strength rendering it completely useless before long and that’s a shame since it will make me think twice before buying something from Homedics again. As it really did very little to relieve my neck and shoulders and was some what of a bother to hold on to, I would not recommend purchasing this product at all. I am only sorry that I didn’t return it when I had the chance, since it is really annoying to have and to store. Rating: 2
