The Green Dragon Farmers MarketItem: The Green Dragon Farmers Market
The Green Dragon Farmers Market is acutally one of the largest Amish run and regulated farmers markets in the United States. It is located in the quiet hills of Epherda, Pennsylvania and is probably about an hour or so worth of driving from Philadelphia. The entire market is filled with just about everything under the sun. I would summarize by saying that if they do not sell it at The Green Dragon, it probalby is not made. They sell everything from fresh produce, milk, eggs, and baked goods, to flags, home decor, children’s items, handmade wooden furniture pieces, plants. scooters, bicycles, clothes, books, dvd’s, and electronics. They carry an enormous assortment of candles, purses, shoes, paintings, ornaments, decoratives, wreathes, rugs, couches, dining room sets, and like I said before, probably any product that pops into one’s mind. While it is a neat place to explore and visit, and you can find many items marked way below standard prices, it was not as appealing to me as I might have anticipated. I found it to be so crowded that it made me feel almost anxious, and we had gone on a very hot day, which made the whole experience rather draining. Furthermore, much of the outdoor displays and vendors are set up on stones, which are extremely difficult to push a stroller through. The most impressive things that I saw there were the handmade Amish chairs and wooden furniture pieces. They surely were georgous and breathtaking. I was not sure, however, how you would acutally purchase them and get them to your home unless you knew to bring some sort of a pickup truck with you or large moving truck. It was one of those places that was neat to see and to explore, but I am not sure if I would acutally go back unless there was something specific that I was looking for. For any true farmers market fans, it would probaby be extremely appealing and its orgins and details can be easily found online by going directly onto their websight. I think that perhaps if the facility was open another day or two a week, rather than just on Fridays, it would be far more enjoyable. With a considerable amount of reduced people, I think it could actually be far less overwhelming, and probably a lot more fun for adults, children, and families! Rating: 5
