My complete name is Donato Donovan Mariano, Tecson. Close friends and loved ones call me Don, while some of my colleagues refer to me as Dontec to distinguish me from the other “Don’s” in our group. I am 42 years of age, married to a wonderful and amazing woman who goes by name of Teresa or “Tet” for short. I am a proud father of three (3) strapping young boys, John David, (14) Andrew James (13) and Timothy John (11).
My family and I live in the Philippines which is the land of our birth. We have a pending application to migrate to Canada where most of my family and relatives from my father’s side lives. Most of them migrated there since the early 80’s. While we wait for news from the Canadian Embassy we manage to keep ourselves busy with work, and several business endeavors.
As far as writing goes it has been a profitable hobby of mine since high school. I used to do movie and book reports for my classmates as well as reaction and term papers. The teachers gave my clients high marks for their work (which were actually mine) and the amazing thing about all this was that the teachers even the keenest one was not able to detect that more than a dozen of the reaction papers he graded had been written by a single author.
My writing experience was further enhanced when I got involved with a religious organization that aired two (2) weekly Television Programs, a daily Radio program and published its own monthly newsletter while operating its own printing press. I served as continuity writer for the television program and managing editor for our publications. On the corporate level, I was hired to do two (2) scripts for a couple company events that were hosted by local celebrities and a documentary on the making of the first full length animated film feature “Adarna the Mythical Bird” which premiered in local cinema’s 1997.
Although I am not a degree holder of any related course in writing or journalism, I still consider myself a freelance writer by virtue of experience and hope to explore more opportunities in this field. I am thankful to the people behind REVIEW STREAM that have somehow opened up an opportunity to make some money through my writing. It is so nice to read each time I open my email:”your review was published” Thus far I’ve had 86 published reviews in about two (2) weeks time. At this junction let me just express a heartfelt ‘THANK YOU’ and I hope this may lead to even better things for all concerned.
